CAN DESCREGUT
We are a family-run organic winery located at the Can Descregut farmhouse.
Can Descregut is the wine project of Arantxa De Cara and Marc Milà, and also the name of the farmhouse where we live and make our wines, located in Vilobí del Penedès. It is a personal and family initiative born out of a constant drive to produce wines with identity, honesty, and a deep connection to the land.
We are committed to minimal-intervention practices, producing high-quality still and sparkling wines under the collective Corpinnat brand. We work exclusively with grapes from our own 20 hectares of organically farmed vineyards.
We do not purchase either wine or grapes.
Our story
Joaquim de Cara purchased the Can Descregut farmhouse in 1981, a mid-19th-century country house. From 1986 onwards, the tradition of winemaking at the farmhouse was revived, and a new winery was built to produce base wines for sparkling wines, which were sold to cava producers in the region. In those early years, the first bottles of sparkling wine began to reach the market, sold mainly on the local market.
In 2004, Arantxa De Cara, Joaquim’s daughter, took a step forward after completing her oenology studies at the University of Tarragona and began producing wines at the winery under the Descregut label.
From 2005 onwards, together with her father-in-law Joan Milà (a renowned oenologist and professor of Viticulture and Oenology in Espiells), they began producing long-aged wines and released their first wine made 100% from Xarel·lo Vermell.
In 2008, the conversion to organic farming began.
Marc Milà, Arantxa’s partner, joined the project in 2010. Although his professional background comes from a different field, he has a deep family connection to the wine sector, having worked from a very young age in all aspects of vineyard and winery work.
In 2011, Arantxa received the AEC award as a “Young Talent in Oenology.”
The first vineyard of Sumoll Negre, recovered from Rodonyà, was planted, and the area of Xarel·lo Vermell was expanded.
2012 marked the start of vinification with native yeasts and an increased focus on reducing SO2 levels. In the vineyards, the first experiments with spontaneous ground cover were implemented, along with the introduction of biodynamic preparations.
In 2014, exports to various countries began.
In 2015, we began working with ceramic amphorae and started disgorging without freezing.
In 2019, the first skin-contact wines (orange wines) were produced, influenced by a trip to Northeastern Italy and Slovenia.
In 2020, Can Descregut joined Corpinnat.
In 2021, the winery began carrying out 100% of the tiratges using Rectified Concentrated Grape Must (RCGM) instead of cane or beet sugar to achieve the second fermentation
In 2022, the U.S. magazine Forbes recognized Descregut sparkling wine as one of Spain’s top 10 sparkling wines to watch, highlighting its outstanding quality-to-price ratio.
That same year, we installed solar panels to reduce electricity consumption at the winery.
CORPINNAT
Produced in the heart of the Penedès, our sparkling wines capture the essence of the region.
The Corpinnat seal guarantees quality, high standards, and meticulous care.
Committed to the land, we produce organic wines that respect the natural balance of our environment.
From Penedès.
We work with the traditional Penedès grape varieties that are best adapted to our climate.
We produce wines following minimal intervention principles to express the typicity of the Penedès and the character of the soils in Vilobí, rich in gypsum, which impart minerality and identity to our wines. Our wines reflect who we are and our territory, with carefully managed production — we never buy wine.
CURIOUS
We work with a sense of restlessness, curiosity, and respect for our environment, exploring the paths of the most sincere winemaking. Every wine is the result of observation and experimentation.
We are personally involved in every step of the process, from vine to bottle. At Can Descregut, we don’t buy wine or grapes: all our wines are made exclusively in our winery from grapes grown in our own vineyards.
We are directly involved in every stage of our work, from winter pruning and year-round vineyard maintenance to the harvest and winemaking. We even personally design our labels, ensuring each wine is a long, coherent project with a clear purpose—from the vineyard to the bottle

Pioneers in vinifying Xarel·lo Vermell.
Driven by this curiosity, in 2005 we became the first winery to release a wine made 100% from the little-known Xarel·lo Vermell grape. In this regard, Arantxa completed her final enology degree project focused on studying this variety. This wine is the Vermell, which we have been producing for 20 years

OUR LOGO: MR. DESCREGUT
The name Can Descregut comes from an old nickname, like many other house names in the Catalan rural world. Traditionally, houses were not so much identified by the official family surname, but by the nickname by which the family or one of its members was known.
In this case, ‘Descregut’ referred to a person with an independent character, someone unlikely to accept things without verifying them, with a critical spirit and a way of doing things all their own. Over time, this nickname came to give its name to the house, which became known as Can Descregut — that is, ‘the house of Descregut.’
As often happens, the exact origin of the nickname has been lost over time, but the name has survived through generations, becoming part of the identity of the place.
ORGANIC
We cultivate each vine with care and respect, without using insecticides or herbicides, always seeking the vineyard’s natural balance and promoting the biodiversity of our surroundings.
This commitment to the land and to sustainable viticulture is reflected in every harvest. Our wines are certified organic according to European regulations, guaranteeing a responsible, transparent approach aligned with the values that define us as a winery.

Certified organic winery since 2010.
